Buttons buttons whose got the buttons.... Well I do!
When I was little I remember buttons were for promotional things.
Say, for a political campaign I remember" I like Ike". A button with a donkey or elephant representing Republicans and Democrats. We had a lot of donkey buttons around. My uncle a union organizer ~labor ~of the, for the, by the people.
My grandmother, ladies garment workers union.
Those kind of buttons.
I grew up not trusting politics or religion I did receive my communion and confirmation on my own insistence ,after the Maguire sisters downstairs lectured and nearly pummeled me into going to catechism
(And after I decided I wouldn't become a nun!)
Although I did like the shoes and that all black thing they had going
Both divided people in a way I sensed was wrong.
I grew up a believer.
I read the diary of Anne Frank," I still believe that people are good" indelibly printed on my very core, right along with Peter Pan and I won't grow up.
Fast forward to the 60s and buttons, buttons buttons. With philosophical statements like "what if they gave a war and nobody came."
Buttons that stated to who you were, "reckless abandon" so my button said "beautiful people"
And we pinned them on the back of the seats when I did my very first concert. The Townhall in Philadelphia.
So you show where you stand...For US ,WE, EVERYONE, the whole crazy a lot of us!
We are all in this together
Beautiful humanity beautiful people

Melanie Nashville, Tennessee
Pieces of a career, scattered by the winds of experience and assembled again by the force of love into the most personal and
brilliant moments of her musical journey. Melanie is poised to enlighten new generations about what it means to sing with both passion and eloquence, to write at once with intelligence and emotion, and to inspire through song. Nobody does this better.
